(Bangkok, March 31, 2025) – Vietjet has operated two special relief flights, numbered VJ2875 and VJ2877, using Airbus A330 and A321 aircraft to transport a Vietnamese rescue team to Myanmar following a devastating earthquake. In support of the emergency response, the airline swiftly coordinated the deployment of rescue forces from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam. Both flights departed from Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi to Yangon on the afternoon of March 30.
Vietjet expedited flight operations by streamlining the flight permit process and completing necessary technical preparations. The airline also mobilized its experienced crew and staff to support this humanitarian mission, demonstrating Vietjet's strong commitment to relief efforts.
The two flights carried 106 Vietnamese armed forces personnel participating in the rescue mission, along with trained rescue dogs and more than 60 tons of essential relief supplies, including medical equipment and food, to assist in the post-earthquake recovery in Myanmar.
Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong, CEO of Vietjet, shared:
“Vietjet is always ready for special missions. We promptly completed all necessary preparations and successfully operated two flights to transport emergency rescue teams from the Ministry of Public Security and the Ministry of National Defense of Vietnam to Myanmar, providing timely support for earthquake relief efforts.”
Upon landing at Yangon Airport, Myanmar, the Vietnamese rescue forces, together with Vietjet staff, immediately began unloading and delivering aid supplies to designated relief areas. Police and military officers will participate in search-and-rescue operations, offer medical assistance, and support post-disaster recovery efforts.
Vietjet has made significant contributions to humanitarian missions, reflecting a spirit of compassion and solidarity. The airline has previously operated numerous relief flights, including missions to assist Indonesia after the 2018 earthquake and tsunami, support for the Philippines following Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, and active participation in pandemic response campaigns. (Bangkok, July 4, 2024) – Vietjet has marked a significant new milestone in its journey to connect the skies across the Asia-Pacific region by launching its first-ever direct flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Xi’an (China) and announcing the new route from Nha Trang to Daegu (South Korea). These initiatives highlight Vietjet’s commitment to offering more affordable and convenient travel options while strengthening air connectivity between Southeast and Northeast Asia.
The announcement of the Nha Trang – Daegu route coincides with Vietjet’s 10th anniversary of successful operations between Vietnam and South Korea. The new service, connecting Vietnam’s coastal city of Nha Trang with Daegu—South Korea’s fourth-largest city—will officially commence on October 27, 2024, with seven round-trip flights per week, further expanding the airline’s already extensive network between the two countries.
